Supplement manufacturing blends protein, vitamin, mineral and herbal ingredients into powders, sachets, stick packs and tablets taken alongside a normal diet. Ingredients are dispensed, screened and mixed to a uniform blend, then dosed into sticks, sachets, jars or bottles and coded.
Common Process Flow
Bulk ingredients are tipped at an enclosed station and screened to remove lumps and foreign matter. Extraction at the tipping point keeps fine powder out of the room air.
The base powder, micronutrients, flavours and sweeteners are blended into one homogeneous mix. Ribbon and paddle blenders are used because supplement blends combine ingredients of very different bulk densities.
Finished blend is held in day bins and moved to the filling lines in closed transfer, because supplement powders pick up moisture from room air. Dehumidified air in the packing hall keeps the blend free flowing while it is being filled.
Single-serve doses are metered and sealed into sticks or sachets on multi-lane machines. Dosing is by servo auger, which is the usual arrangement for single-serve powder packs.
Larger pack sizes are volumetrically filled into jars and bottles, closed and labelled. Wraparound labelling suits the round containers used for supplement packs.
Every pack is weighed and screened for metal, and anything outside the set band is pushed off the line automatically. Cleared packs are cased, wrapped and palletised for despatch.
