Snus Processing Plant & Machinery Solutions

Cured tobacco is ground to a flour, which is the base of every snus recipe. Ground material is sifted and moved under enclosed conveying to keep dust down.

Tobacco flour is blended with water, salt and alkaline salts against a set recipe. Ingredients are weighed and dosed into the mixer under recipe control.

The wet blend is heat-treated with steam, the step that separates snus from air-cured oral tobaccos. It is run as a batch process in jacketed equipment fed by the plant's steam circuit.

The treated mass is cooled, and flavouring is folded in afterwards so the aroma is not driven off by heat. Cooled batches are held until the pouching line calls for them.

Portion snus is dosed into small oral pouches, which are sealed, counted and stacked ready for canning. Loose snus skips this stage and goes straight to can filling.

Pouches or loose snus are filled into cans, which are then labelled and coded. Finished cans are weight-checked and moved into chilled storage.
