Rubber, filler, chalk, colour and curing chemicals are tipped at a dump station, weighed against the batch recipe and elevated to the mixing floor. Tramp metal is taken out before anything enters the mixer.

Powders are sifted to break up lumps and then conveyed into the mixing room in a closed line so the dust stays contained.

Rubber and the weighed powders are worked together until the compound is uniform through the batch. Batch sequence and discharge are run from the mixer automation.

The compound is extruded as a continuous tube over a mandrel and taken off in lengths. Steam and heating services feed this section.

The extruded tube is cured so the rubber cross-links and holds its elasticity, then sliced across its length into individual bands and dusted so they do not stick together. Cured tubes are moved from the curing bay to the cutting bay on trolleys and the goods lift.

The mixing room runs under extraction and the curing area under fume extraction, with the exhaust scrubbed before release.

Bands are weighed out into bags or boxes, coded, cased, stacked and wrapped for despatch.
