Marble Processing Plant & Machinery Solutions
Marble processing converts quarried blocks into finished slabs and tiles. Blocks are squared and sawn into slabs, natural veins and pits are filled with resin and oven-cured, the slab is calibrated flat, polished to a gloss, trimmed to size and graded before packing.
Complete Process Flow
Quarry blocks are received in the yard, checked for cracks and squared so that they sit true on the saw. Blocks move between stations on trolleys and roller tracks.
The block is sawn into slabs of even thickness, with water carrying away the cut waste and cooling the blades. Thicker cuts are taken for cut-to-size work and thinner ones for slabs.
Marble carries natural veins, pits and hairline cracks, which are filled with resin and reinforced before the surface is worked. The filled slab passes through a drying oven so that the resin sets.
The slab is ground flat to an even thickness before polishing, because a polishing head cannot correct an uneven surface. Coarse heads take out the saw marks first.
Successively finer abrasive heads bring the marble surface up to a gloss. The slab is washed and blown dry at the end of the line.
Slabs are edge-trimmed and cut into tiles or cut-to-size pieces, then graded by shade and vein pattern. Each piece is checked for chips and thickness.
Finished pieces are packed into crates or bundles with edge protection and labelled by lot. Crates are wrapped and moved to the loading bay.
