Maize Processing Plant & Machinery Solutions
Maize processing separates the cleaned kernel into germ, bran and endosperm so that grits, meal and maize flour can be milled from it. Kernels are tempered, degerminated, dried and graded, with the oil-bearing germ drawn off as its own stream.
Complete Grain Process Flow
Maize is received into storage and cleaned of cob pieces, husk, dust, stones and tramp metal. Clean grain protects the degerming and milling machines that follow.
Water is added and the maize is rested so the bran and germ loosen from the endosperm. Moisture is checked before the grain is degermed.
Tempered kernels are opened so the germ and bran come free of the endosperm, then separated by density and air. Germ is taken out whole so it can be pressed rather than milled.
Degermed grits are dried back from tempering moisture and cooled before milling and storage.
Dried endosperm is reduced and sifted into grits, meal and maize flour, with the fractions kept apart by size and by air.
The separated germ is conveyed to an expeller, pressed for maize oil, and the cake is taken off for feed use.
Grits, meal and flour are weighed, bagged, stitched, inspected and palletised for food and feed customers.
