Granite Processing Plant & Machinery Solutions
Granite processing turns hard quarried blocks into slabs and cut-to-size pieces. Blocks are squared and sawn, slabs are reinforced with epoxy and mesh and cured, then finished as polished, honed or flame-textured surfaces before edge cutting and grading. Cutting water carries stone slurry that must be settled.
Complete Process Flow
Granite blocks are inspected for colour and cracks, squared, and sawn into slabs. Cutting runs with water, which cools the cutting edge and flushes the cut.
Slabs are coated with epoxy, and fractured or softer material is backed with mesh, so that the slab survives handling and polishing. The coating is set in a drying tunnel before the surface is worked.
Granite is finished as polished, honed or flame-textured, depending on where it will be laid. Flaming uses a burner to spall the surface, while polishing and honing use abrasive heads.
Slabs are edge-trimmed and cut into the sizes ordered, then checked for colour match and finish. Pieces are numbered so that a job can be laid in the sequence it was cut.
Sawing and polishing produce a stone slurry that has to be settled out so the water can be used again. Dry cutting and flaming points are kept under extraction.
Finished slabs are loaded into A-frames or crates with separators between them and labelled by lot. Crates are wrapped and moved to despatch.
