Cured tobacco leaf is dried down to the condition khaini is made at. Moisture is checked before the leaf is released for cutting.

Dried leaf is cut and crushed to the coarse grade khaini is made at, then sieved so the fill weight in each sachet stays even. Fines and oversize are taken off before blending.

Cut tobacco is blended to the plant's recipe so colour and strength read the same across the batch. Ingredients are weighed and dosed under recipe control.

Slaked lime is dosed as its own stream, because khaini is used by mixing tobacco and lime together at the point of consumption. Lime runs through a separate hopper and auger so the two materials stay apart until filling.

Tobacco and lime are filled into their sachets and sealed on multi-lane machines. Seal quality is watched as the web runs.

Filled sachets are weight-checked and metal-checked, and any reject is taken off the line. Passed sachets are counted, stacked and packed into pouches and cartons.
