Cumin Processing Plant & Machinery Solutions
Cumin processing cleans and mills cumin seed into cleaned whole seed and ground cumin. Because field-dried cumin carries soil, stalk and stones, the seed is screened, de-stoned and gravity separated, often washed and dried again, then roasted where roasted cumin powder is wanted, and milled.
Complete Cumin Process Flow
Incoming seed is fed at a controlled rate and screened free of straw, dust and undersize. Magnets take out tramp metal before the seed reaches any moving cleaning element.
Stones, mud balls and heavy foreign matter are removed, which is the step that brings the ash content down. Gravity separation splits light, immature seed from the heavy sound fraction.
Cumin is commonly washed to remove adhering soil and dust that dry cleaning cannot reach. Washed seed is dried again straight away so it returns to a safe storage moisture.
Optical sorting removes discoloured, damaged and off-colour seed along with look-alike foreign seed.
For roasted cumin powder the seed is roasted first to develop the aroma, then cooled before it goes to the mill. Cumin seed carries oil, so it is milled in stages with sieving between them to keep the powder free flowing.
Whole and ground cumin are filled into pouches, weight checked and coded.
