Clove Processing Plant & Machinery Solutions
Clove processing handles the unopened flower buds of the clove tree, which arrive from the field with stalks still attached. The buds are separated from the stems, dried until they turn dark brown and snap cleanly, then cleaned, graded and either packed whole or milled.
Complete Clove Process Flow
Clove stalks are separated from the buds, since stalk sold as clove is an adulteration buyers test for. Light stalk pieces and leaf are blown clear of the heavier buds.
Buds are dried in warm air until they darken and become brittle. Even drying avoids the pale, soft buds that are downgraded on arrival.
Headless cloves, mother cloves and broken material are separated from whole sound buds. Optical sorting removes off-colour and mould-marked buds before grading by size.
Clove carries a high volatile oil content, so it is cut and milled in stages rather than in one heavy pass. The powder is collected through a cyclone and filter so the aroma-carrying fines are recovered.
Whole clove and clove powder are weighed into pouches; nitrogen flushing is used where aroma has to hold through a long supply chain.
