Charcoal Pellet & Briquette Plant Machinery Solutions

Charcoal pellet production takes lump charcoal, charcoal fines and coconut shell char and reforms them into uniform pellets and briquettes. Because the material is already carbonised, it is not dried at the start but crushed to a powder, screened, mixed with a starch or clay binder, and pressed.

How it works

Complete Charcoal Manufacturing Process Flow

Charcoal Intake & Covered Storage

Lump charcoal, kiln fines and coconut shell char are received and kept under cover so they stay dry. Every tipping and transfer point is put under extraction, because charcoal sheds fine black dust.

Crushing & Pulverising

Lumps are broken down and then reduced to a fine powder. Coarse particles will not bind, so the whole charge is taken down to powder before any binder is added.

Powder Screening & Grading

The powder is screened, with oversize returned to the mill and the fine fraction taken forward. Sand, soil and unburnt pieces carried over from carbonisation are separated out at this point.

Binder Preparation & Mixing

A starch or clay binder is prepared with water and blended into the charcoal powder. Charcoal has no natural binder of its own, so the mix is worked until it holds a shape when pressed by hand.

Pressing into Pellets & Briquettes

The damp mix is pressed or extruded into pellets, sticks or briquettes and cut to length. The shape is chosen to suit the end use, from barbecue and shisha charcoal to industrial fuel.

Drying & Hardening

The pressed pieces are dried to drive off the water brought in with the binder. Drying is what hardens them; charcoal that is packed damp will crumble and can spoil in storage.

Packing & Dust Control

Hardened pellets and briquettes are weighed, filled into printed bags, coded and wrapped for dispatch. Packing runs under central dust collection so black dust is not carried into the finished stock.
