Biomass pellet production turns agricultural residues such as rice husk, groundnut shell, bagasse, mustard stalk and straw into a handleable solid fuel. The residue is chopped to a uniform length, cleaned of soil, sand and tramp iron, dried, ground, then blended and compressed into pellets.

How it works

Complete Biomass Manufacturing Process Flow

Residue Intake & Feeding

Loose husk, baled straw and cane trash arrive in sacks or bales and are opened out into a feed hopper. Residues differ in bulk density, so the feed rate is controlled rather than tipped straight into the line.

Chopping & Size Reduction

Long stalk, straw and bagasse are cut down to a short, even length before anything else happens. Unlike wood, this material is fibrous and stringy, so it is chopped and shredded rather than chipped.

Cleaning & De-stoning

Field-collected residue carries soil, sand, grit and stones picked up during harvesting and heaping, along with baling wire and nails. Earth is separated out by air and by density and iron is pulled out magnetically, since abrasive and hard material wears out dies and hammers.

Drying

Residue that has been stored in the open or cut green is dried down before grinding. Light, low-density material dries in a moving air stream rather than in a heavy rotating drum.

Grinding

Dried residue is broken down to a loose, even meal. Grinding is done under extraction because husk and stalk dust is light and travels.

Blending & Densification

Different residues are blended so the press sees a consistent feed instead of alternating batches of husk and stalk. The blend is then compressed into pellets.

Cooling, Screening & Bagging

Pellets are cooled, screened to take out broken material and fines, and filled into woven sacks. Sack weight is checked and recorded before the sack is closed.
